Architecture
Mar de Indias House No.1
CONCEPT
Designing a second home that is luxurious yet minimalistic, for families that enjoy nature and the Caribbean Sea breeze while playing golf and sunbathing at the beach.
CHALLENGE
Creating a unique architectural design in the luxury segment, both local and international, by reinterpreting the typical Cartagena beach house concept through a distinct use of space, building materials and vegetation.
DESCRIPTION
In December of the year 2010 we received a private invitation from the local developer URBAN GROUP OF COLOMBIA to design a prototype house for the project SANTO DOMINGO DEL MAR, which is part of the mega project MAR DE INDIAS BEACH RESORT.
Quoting the clients web page, “the central idea of the each of the houses of Santo Domingo del Mar is that each invited architect designs (propose) their own interpretation of Cartagena’s traditional house in coexistence with the natural surroundings”.
Taking this into account we presented two different types of houses.
The first house, designated as CASA CORALINA in its high-end type, is a two-story house that opens to the surrounding landscape with the use of wooden sliding doors both in the social area and the private room area, and which can be closed completely in case the client needs more privacy or needs to have a fully insolated space.
